Westhampton, a beautiful hamlet in the Town of Southampton, portrays class, beauty, and history. Known as “The First Hampton” for being the first village to rent rooms to summer patrons, Westhampton Beach and the Westhampton Dunes spread along the infamous Dune Road as part of Westhampton.
Westhampton is home to the Francis S. Gabreski Airport, built by the government in 1943. It was initially built for the Army Air Force to use during World War II. It has played many important parts in our history, acting as the prime air defense for New York City, the Aerospace Defense Command, and now the Air National Guard, a joint civil/military airport. During the summer months it is common to see many private jets flying people form Manhattan to Gabreski Airport to enjoy their summer homes on the weekends. Air Force One frequently parked here in the summers of 1998 and 1999 during visits form President Bill Clinton and First Lady Hillary Clinton.
Main Street flourishes with restaurants, shops, and boutiques attracting a keen buzz for intimate and exciting evenings. The Westhampton Performing Arts Theatre draws in a fine class of up and coming, young professionals with shows exhibiting breathtaking talent. The casual and fine dining restaurants will never bore your taste buds with the freshest of ingredients and exquisite cuisine. Leading to the end of Main Street is the Church of Westhampton, a pillar of beauty, and the Westhampton Country Club, a charming par 70 golf course overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.
A place with beautiful landscapes, historic national pride, and cultural elegance, Westhampton is The First Hampton and a beautiful place to make your home away form home.
